Ron and Addie Vergona use a team teaching approach to conduct classes. They have been assisting and/or teaching since the Fall of 2009. Before retiring Ron, a PhD, was involved in cardiovascular and cancer research. Addie was a special education teacher and discovered that behavior modification techniques used in the classroom and for dog training are comparable. She also attended a Janice Gunn seminar. Ron and Addie are active in both the Coeur d’Alene Dog Fanciers and the Spokane Dog Training Club. Ron and Addie utilize a positive, individualized approach to training. They recognize there are learned behaviors and instinctive behaviors and take the time to familiarize themselves with the unique characteristics of each dog. Currently they have two German Shepherds and their favorite dog related activity is tracking. Greta, their older shepherd, earned her tracking title in 2011. They have attended and participated in many tracking classes and events.
