Jill Wilson loves northern breed dogs and her passion is “dog powered sports”. Starting with the purchase of their first Samoyed in 1993, her husband and she built a performance sled dog kennel just outside Athol, ID. They have competed in races throughout the western States in a variety of venues. Our racing teams today include both Alaskan huskies and Siberian huskies. We have participated in skijoring, sledding, scootering and carting. Jill has participated in a number of other activities including obedience, AKC’s Canine Good Citizen Program, weight pull, herding and agility. While her main passion has been performance events, she has also participated in conformation events, including both AKC and IABCA. Jill has shown several of her Samoyeds, major pointed two, and finished one AKC Champion.

Training Background
Her knowledge of working sled dogs comes from a variety of sources from many top mushers. These experiences form the foundation for working with her dogs. Jill’s emphasis is working with her dogs to create a positive learning environment based on a keen sense of mutual trust, respect and teamwork. This is accomplished through positive methods, using a clicker or verbal marker and rewards for shaping desired behaviors. She rarely uses aversive methods in training.

Dogs have been and continue to be an important part of my life. I will always believe they have taught me far more than I will ever be able to teach them.
